The School Visit Pitch Kit.

Schools pay for author visits. Most authors never ask, because they don't know who to email or what to say. This kit gives you both — plus how to price it.

What's in the kit

Three things, all of them practical. No theory, no filler.

1 · The principal pitch email

A short, specific email you can send cold to a school. It asks for ten minutes, not an hour. It names a benefit to the school rather than to you. And it deliberately carries no attachment — attachments from strangers get filtered.

The kit includes the opening email, a follow-up for when you hear nothing after five working days, an agenda for the call, and a thank-you that opens the door to being invited back.

2 · The QR poster template

A one-page poster a school can print and put on a noticeboard. It carries your book cover, a line about the visit, and a QR code that points wherever you want — your book, a trailer, or a sign-up form. Parents scan it in the corridor at pick-up.

3 · How to price a paid reading

Most authors either don't charge at all or pick a number at random and feel awkward. The kit walks through what actually drives the fee — travel, session length, number of classes, whether books are bundled — and gives you language for quoting it without apologising.

Why schools say yes more often when there's a video

A principal is deciding in about four seconds whether you are worth ten minutes. A book cover in an email is a flat object. Thirty seconds of your character moving is not — it reads as "this is a real thing, produced properly," and that impression does most of the work before you have said anything about yourself.

One author we work with had her character built into a Caribbean primary school's summer camp programme. She now uses the same film for school visits and launch events.
